Multimedia

Just as design is able to tell stories and convey information differently than a written article, video is able to deliver and convey into the eye and the ear. Sometimes, it could be for promotion of something. Other times it can hold the same purpose as a written article, just with a different medium. Regardless, the goal is the same. Each video has a primary message the creator wants his/her viewers to understand. It can be "There's a football game this Friday," "This is how Middle School Band Night began," or even just your opinion on the latest feature film.

Rivalry Game for Cancer

During my senior year, I created multiple videos that functioned as both promotions and features about upcoming football games. In this video, I collaborated with Oviedo High School student Nevada Cullen to promote our upcoming rivalry game. However, as we were beginning production, one of Oviedo's football captains, Britton Daniel, was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, which gave the story a new angle. This video was part of a package that won Best of the Best at the Best in the 2018 FSPA fall contests.

Middle School Band Night

Another video I made to promote and inform about an upcoming football game is this video about Middle School Band Night. It functioned as both promotiontional and as a story that explained what the event means for those who participate in it.

Warriors (Playoff Promo)

This video is where I departed from the fusion of promo and feature and delved more exclusively into the promo side of things. I had too, the game was in two weeks. However, as this video is the last one of its type I've made up to this point, it is the best video that showcases all of the footage I took of the team this season. All shots that are at field level were taken by me on my iPhone camera. I usually take a camera for things like these, but sometimes you just have to make do with what you have.

Bryson Reviews

Throughout my teenage years, I've grown to love YouTube reviewers. Through them, I began to realize my passion for Film and Television and began forming my own opinions on them. Now, years later, I want to follow in their footsteps. These reviews are my first steps at doing so.

Live Like Legends

While this video was one of my favorites to edit, it also showed me the limitations of my Feature/Promo fusion style. I have to credit Michael Kula, a veteran in the sports television industry, for meeting with me and giving me some pointers in the format. However, one thing this video does demonstrate is the ability to use editing and background music to add emotional weight to what is being shown on screen.

Football Live Streaming

This last football season was the first season the TV Production program live streamed home games on YouTube. Considering my background of announcing Pop Warner games, Mrs. Parker asked me to commentate on the live streams. It took a few games to get used too, especially considering I was usually pulling double duty that night (announcing the live stream then getting interviews for the story I had to write about the game for the Orlando Sentinel). I used some of my commentaries in the Ocoee game (the final Hagerty drive) in my Live Like Legends promo above. To the right, the Edgewater game is a demonstration of how much I grew over the course of the season. It was the last regular season game I commentated on, and it was especially memorable since it ended up being an upset that not many could have seen coming.

Senior Night Wrestling

In a project where I was writing a story about one of our wrestling team's matches, I teamed up with the TV Production student Kali Jobs to film a highlight reel of the event. Jobs filmed the highlights as I worked on the written story. Later on, we both took part in the editing of the video. It was part of a package that won Best of the Best at the 2018 FSPA state convention.
